SAIoneers of Class VI engaged in an enriching hands-on activity by constructing their own protractors using simple materials such as paper, a ruler, a compass, and a pencil. What began as a creative exercise soon transformed into a meaningful journey of understanding, as students carefully crafted semicircles and precisely marked angles from 0° to 180°.
This activity enabled learners to move beyond theoretical knowledge and experience geometry in a tangible and practical way. By building a fundamental mathematical tool themselves, students developed a deeper understanding of angle measurement and the working of a protractor. Each step required attention to detail, patience, and accuracy, reinforcing essential mathematical skills.
More importantly, this experiential approach fostered analytical thinking and strengthened conceptual clarity. Students were encouraged to question, explore, and validate their work, promoting a spirit of inquiry-based learning. The process also nurtured creativity and self-reliance, as learners took ownership of their creations and discoveries.
